Research is the basis of success for any project. It is not possible to succeed especially when it is in the line of science unless you have taken enough time to get to understand the field in depth. You have to use your scientific knowledge to carry out exhaustive research with consideration to the aspects of viability and sustainability of the project. You will not run a good project unless you have set up parameters to organize your research so that you know exactly that you are in control of the research process.

The background of your research should be centered on whether you will be able to carry your project through and whether it is possible to achieve the results which are the objectives of your project. If you have assessed that your objectives are viable, then it’s worth your time to launch yourself into those worthy science projects.

Proper planning

Your project will not succeed unless you have planned well for every aspect of it. You need to properly plan for your time, your money as well as all the other resources. You need to have a realistic working schedule that clearly shows what you intent to achieve at every phase and the things that you will do to achieve it.

You should have a preplanned arrangement of how you will use your knowledge to solve any problems that are likely to pop up during the course of the project. Then there is the issue of funding; do you have enough funds to take your research project through? If not, where will you get the additional funding to ensure that your project does not stall midway?

The right people to work with

You will do very little to help your project if you do not get the right people to work with. For your project, you need to select only the people who will champion your course. Do not leave any room for shortcomings unless you want to drag behind and fail to meet your deadlines. The best people to work with are those who have proper knowledge and believe in the same course and goals as you do. Handling any project should not be a difficult task if you have put in place the right measures. What is needed on top of that is hard work and you will definitely be where you want to be.

Scientific Methodology

The phrase “Scientific Method” is referring to a range of methods for investigating phenomena, for collecting new knowledge, or amending and collating previously obtained knowledge. To be termed scientific, there must be in place a system of gathering observable, empirical and quantifiable evidence, which is subject to certain principles reasoning. The Oxford English Dictionary defines scientific method as: “a method of procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses.”

Although procedures differ from one field of inquiry to another, there are certain distinguishing characteristics of scientific inquiry which set it apart from all other methods of obtaining knowledge. A scientific researcher will propose a hypothesis as an explanations of a phenomenon, and will set up experimental studies in order that he can test this hypothesis (or hypotheses). It is necessary that these steps are repeatable, so that future results can be predicted. Theories that include larger domains of inquiry may be composed of many independently derived hypotheses. These are combined in a coherent, supportive structure. New hypotheses may be formed as a result of theories, or theories may help to place groups of hypotheses into context. Scientific research is mainly intended to be as objective as possible, so that any biased interpretations of results are avoided. Another requirement is detailed documentation and effective archiving of all data and methods. This will facilitate careful scrutiny by other scientists, and will enable them to verify the previous results by repeating the processes. This is commonly referred to as full disclosure, and it also enables the data to be tested for reliability.

Scientific methodology is not a modern concept by any means. It has been practiced in various forms for a thousand years or more. But it has proven difficult to arrive at a standard formula for this method.There are difficulties in a formulaic statement of method, however. This was noted by William Whewell in his “History of Inductive Science” (1837). He stated that experience alone is not a sufficient basis for scientific method, and that “invention, sagacity and genius” are needed at every step along the way.

In the 20th century, a model was formulated for scientific method:

1. Use your experience: Evaluate the problem and try to rationalize it. Check for previous explanations. If the problem is a new one, move on to step 2.

2. Form a conjecture: When there is nothing else known yet, try to articulate an explanation, to yourself or to someone else.

3. From that explanation, arrive at a prediction: If you assume 2 is true, what are the consequences?

4. Test: Look at the opposite of each consequence in order to disprove 2.S

Has scientific knowledge reached saturation?

The underlying fun to explore anything around you is triggered with a deep sense of love and inquisitiveness towards nature. Such a love and understanding is getting slowly destroyed by our rat race concepts. As stated earlier, nature has so many untold mysteries and puzzles that once unfolded can benefit the human race for a better living.
